Gala Maar is timeless swimwear for the contemporary woman. Made from environmentally sound fabrics and proudly produced locally in Los Angeles, CA.
Founded and designed by Blakely Wickstrom, a California native and long-time Brooklyn resident, a balance of east and west coast style and sensibility is at the heart of the brand. With thoughtful consideration for quality in materials and construction, the intent is to create elevated wardrobe staples, steadfast through changing trends and wear.
Gala Maar’s motivation for sustainable practice is based on the simple idea that their product is made to experience nature in and to cause undue harm in the process seems backwards. In minimizing their eco-impact no detail is too small to consider, from their recycled hangtags and packaging to sourcing pad inserts from the only US based manufacture. They’ve also committed to fulfilling orders for both coasts and partner with green printers for sale materials. The biggest player in process however, is their swim fabric made of nylon from discarded fishing nets that account for nearly 10% of all ocean pollution. Not only does the fabric have waste-to-wear properties, it’s engineered to last an extra long time with amazing fit retention. Combine that with the quality construction and you’ve got one long lasting swimsuit.
