Mary Zimmer has been a maker all her life—she’s always loved all things personalized, and about eight years ago learned about a process called dye sublimation. Fast forward to the year she became a grandmother. She couldn’t get the idea of personalized baby leggings out of her mind! That led to the purchase of a dye sublimation printer, and three months later, A Great Baby was up and running.
Mary purchases fabric in NYC and brings it to her home in Connecticut + another maker Pamela’s in Michigan. They cut and hem the ponte knit blankets and then use their printer to create customized designs for each customer with specific names and designs. They then print them on the blankets with ink that’s tested and safe for children and babies. This ink has a permanent bond into the fabrics, and won’t fade.
