Last year around this time Charity and I spent an unbearably hot afternoon in my apartment studio space mixing up and photographing summery cocktails. Since then I’ve been trying to better my mixology skills (you can find my watermelon mojitos here + three other fun drinks here) without having to spend too much on individual bottles of alcohol, mixers, and garnishes. Major amounts of added sugar spells instant hangover for me, so I like it keep it simple and just let real fruit and a few select extras (in this case, cucumber and thyme) take things up a notch rather than things like grenadine and syrups. Still sweet, yes, but not quite as bad.
I liked the taste of my watermelon mojitos, but this time around I had thyme on hand, not mint. Plus, a little cucumber that sounded refreshing on this particular 100 degree day.
