Remember last year when we debuted our first ever lookbook? The idea behind it was to share a little slice of the great work the members in our ethical shopping directory are behind. When we launched Conscious Shop Collective we really wanted to make sure we were continually working with these brands to help garner support for conscious shopping. Our lookbooks are a way of showing that not only are conscious brands–from incredible one-woman businesses to flourishing social enterprises–worthy alternatives to your everyday products… They’re so much better.
Being in the space for years now, we value a good lifestyle shoot. We know just how impactful a beautiful, creative representation of products can be. Especially when purchasing online, it’s important to get a good “real life” look at what you might be interested in buying.
So that’s why we started dreaming up lookbooks. All last month we worked in our second installment, our Spring/Summer 2017 lookbook. This time around, we’re featuring 9 brands that range from home decor to accessories to craft supplies and beyond. Their work spans buying organic yarn directly from alpaca breeders in Peru in order to offer them a living wage to fighting human trafficking with fair trade designs made in Cambodia.
To produce this shoot, I connected with each brand to see what we could include, and brought it up to the beautiful Pacific Northwest to meet Charity + Evan in their new home. It was a blank slate for our styling, and we lucked out with some beautiful afternoon lighting to work with.
Charity and I styled everything (and did a little modeling, because that’s what you do when you’re a tiny team), and she was behind the lens. After I received her amazing edits, I put it together and Jennifer helped me highlight each of our brands with a little about them and link to their pages. (You can read more about our team + how we work together here.) This was truly a team effort and we’re so excited to share what some of our fave conscious shops are up to this spring and summer!
